How riding lessons work
In the first lessons the instructor usually controls the horse while you learn to sit correctly in the saddle and keep your balance. Once you feel steadier, you start steering the horse yourself at a walk and trot, and later you can join group lessons.
When choosing a stable, ask how long a lesson lasts, whether an instructor leads it and whether the stable provides a helmet. If you want to ride in winter too, ask whether the stable has an indoor arena.
